Can you transfer your skills
Have you thought about transferring your skills into another sector?
According to the Royal Academy of Engineering's report on "Jobs and Growth", between 2012 and 2020 the UK economy alone will need 830,000 engineers, scientists and technologists. There are similarly widely-publicised skill shortages specifically in the Automotive, Civil Engineering, Energy, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, and Renewables sectors.
In this climate, employers are increasingly looking for talent outside of their traditional markets whilst engineers and other technical specialists are moving between sectors. It's an opportunity for employers to broaden their talent pools, and for engineers to transfer their skills into industries they may not have previously considered.
